You might never have heard of the term ‘choice paralysis’. But if you’ve ever done your own interior painting projects, you know exactly what it is. There seems to be endless varieties of interior paint brands and types of paint.
At The Paint People we offer only Benjamin Moore paints for two reasons. First, Benjamin Moore paints are simply the best quality line of paints and stains we have found. Second, they have just five different basic lines of interior paints.
Today we’ll compare two of our most popular interior paints.
Benjamin Moore’s Aura vs. Regal Select
Before we get into what sets these two paint product lines apart, let’s take a look at some of what they have in common. Both paints are:
- Water-based interior paints available in a wide range of colours and finishes
- Paint and primer together to help reduce the number of coats needed.
- Mildew resistant
- Low-odour, zero VOC (volatile organic compound)
- Made with Benjamin Moore’s proprietary Gennex(r) Colour Technology, which eliminates the need to use the chemicals on most paints that cause colour fading and inconsistencies.

What’s Different Between Benjamin Moore’s Aura and Regal Select Paints?
It’s easy to see how consumer paralysis can set in with paints. After seeing what these two premium paints have in common, it might be difficult to think about how they could be different.
Benjamin Moore Aura Paint
Aura may be the thickest paint you’ll ever use. That gives it excellent hide and coverage properties even over dark colours. And it’s ideal for high-traffic areas. Using Benjamin Moore’s exclusive Colour Lok(tm) technology, Aura’s colours are rich, consistent and durable across their entire pallette. Aura is available in four finishes: matte, eggshell, satin and semi-gloss
Benjamin Moore Regal Select
Regal Select is a versatile line that can be used all over the home, including ceilings (it’s available in a Ready Mix White!). It applies quickly and easily and is splatter resistant. It’s also a great paint if you appreciate faster recoat times. And when you’re all done, you’ll find that Regal Select cleans easily to keep that ‘just-painted’ look for longer.
